A circular walk to Twyning from Tewkesbury
Thursday 13 October 2011
On a grey but very mild day Linda, Margaret W, David H, Terry and John met David A in Tewkesbury, as planned, for the walk to Twyning. We walked through the fields to Church End and as we were in good time, we paused at the church to look around and be impressed by its well-kept condition. Then we made for The Fleet by the River Avon for a welcome coffee break, before walking back to Tewkesbury along the river bank, recording an egret and heron as we returned. We also met John and Marie Wood who had come to meet us and were therefore on their inaugural Buffers' outing – the first of many we hope!
Back in Tewkesbury we dined at the Hop Pole and we were able to sit outside in the courtyard. We were pleased Margaret A joined us for the meal. As usual at a Wetherspoon's establishment, the drinks and meals proved to be good value. So ended a pleasant, gentle walk along the River Avon.
